The former Saddleworth School pupil is at the centre of the Google empire thanks to his role as a ‘trusted photographer’ for the the global internet mega brand.

Due to Daryl’s skill with a camera and Google’s software technology he is promoting businesses to a worldwide audience with just a few clicks of a mouse.

The Swan at Dobcross, Saddleworth Beds in Diggle and Saddleworth Real Ale have all benefited from Daryl’s work producing a virtual 360 degree tour of their premises for Google Street View.

The 28-year-old, who gained a First Class Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours in the study of Interactive Media, has also worked with Manchester City Council (producing a world first tour of the city’s Christmas markets), Manchester Airport, Sainsburys and Greater Manchester Police.

And his Uppermill-based business, Tour.Media, is currently involved in the Google Street View Trusted Hotel project working with The Midland, Radisson and Hotel Novotel.

“There are around eight other businesses in Greater Manchester with the same certificate as me,” explains Daryl.

“But Tour.Media is the chosen company to exclusively complete virtual tours on behalf of Google. I am Oldham’s local Google trusted photographer but I work throughout the whole of the UK and Europe.

“I have the permission of and training by Google to produce virtual tours inside businesses. That means the search engine optimisation will be increased and offers businesses a new, creative way to advertise.”

Daryl, who has been fascinated with photography from an early age, set up his company with the help of a grant from the Prince’s Trust enterprise scheme.

“We were the first company in Manchester to be given the full amount of £4,000” he says proudly. “I also work with quite a lot of charities and that enabled me to get another grant.”

Business is certainly booming and Daryl is looking to offer apprenticeship places to talented local individuals this year and expand into new premises; possibly Oldham’s growing Independent quarter.

By quoting ‘Saddleworth Independent’ readers can have a free consultation and 20 per cent off all Google virtual tour packages until the end of February 2016. 10 per cent of each package cost will be donated to Action Oldham Fund.
