A TOUCH of Victorian Christmas magic is coming to Uppermill as Saddleworth Rotary Club launches a new festive event for the whole family.
The club, which has supported the local community for more than 50 years, is organising its first Victorian Christmas Fayre at Uppermill Civic Centre on Sunday, November 29, from 11am until 4pm.
Members hope the event will become an annual fixture in Saddleworth’s Christmas calendar, bringing together local traders, musicians and families.
Visitors can browse a range of stalls, with predominantly local sellers offering gifts and seasonal goods in the run-up to Christmas.
Father Christmas will also be making an appearance, giving children the opportunity to share their Christmas wishes.
A Victorian-themed photo booth will allow families to dress up and step back in time, while a dedicated crafting area will offer activities for younger visitors.
Live entertainment will include performances from the children’s choir at St Anne’s School in Lydgate and Diggle Community Brass Band, helping to create a festive atmosphere throughout the day.
A café will also be open, serving drinks, snacks and food.
Saddleworth Rotary Club members have been working behind the scenes to bring the new event together, with an emphasis on community involvement and supporting local businesses.
Any profits raised by the club will go into its Charity Trust Account, which supports charities and good causes selected by members. Most of the money raised is expected to be distributed locally.
Admission to the Victorian Christmas Fayre is free, with families encouraged to come along and enjoy the entertainment and activities.
