SUPPORT AND friendship is blossoming at a recently formed group in Uppermill for Saddleworth’s blind and partially sighted residents.
Henshaws Friendship Matters Pennine Vale Group held their first gathering at Sacred Heart Community Centre, High Street, in December.
More than 20 people, including volunteers, guest pianist, Michael Hindson and Kate Nattrass from Henshaws, attended the get-together of carols and nibbles, the latter provided by Tesco, Greenfield.

The group will meet there on every third Friday of the month from 10.30am-12.30pm, with the next meetings on 20 January then 17 February.
The gatherings are anyone with a visual impairment and their family members and carers are also welcome. There will be speakers attending some meetings but this is to be confirmed.
