Vito makes the cut at dog show

A TALENTED dog and his owner from Greenfield are celebrating after making the ‘cut’ at his first ever show.

Gundog Vito and Nicky Porisse were delighted to make it through to the last eight in the ‘cut’ at Crufts, one of the top dog shows in the world held annually at the NEC Birmingham.

Nicky explained: “I entered Vito and he did absolutely brilliantly. He is well on the way to be a winner of his class of Gundog.

“I am thrilled to bits as it was his first show anywhere and we were competing with dogs and owners from all over the world, including America, Holland, Spain, and the Middle East.

“It is the best £32 I have spent on entering the competition! His pedigree name is Azure Boye and I am so proud of him as he graduated eighth out of 26 entrants.

“Vito is following in his father’s ‘paw steps’ as his dad won best of breed at Crufts and I hope Vito will follow suit.

“Vito is named after the patron saint of dogs. When I was on holiday in Italy, the coach driver was called Vito and he told me what it stood for, so I called my champion Vito after him.”

Nicky also owns Labrador Tarne, who is four years old in May and is Vito’s sister from the breed dog Carromer owned by Carol and Mervyn Reynolds.

“I met them at the show as they were showing three of their dogs and it was nice for Vito to meet his kin,” added Nicky.
