AN OUTSTANDING Weight Watchers leader who has helped her members shed approximately 550 stone this year has received a Diamond Leader award for the fifth time.
Karen Thompson has helped hundreds of local residents reach a healthier weight and lifestyle over the last decade.
And to recognise her outstanding service to slimmers, she was surprised with the award at one of her meetings by her Area Manager Debbie Ford.
The award, which celebrates exceptional support, is only presented once every two years to a select group of Leaders across the country – and Karen has won it every time since joining 11 years ago.
Delighted Karen said: “I’m so proud of my members and how well they’ve done. To get this award for doing something I love is amazing.”
This year alone Karen has helped her members shed approximately 550 stones and has led many to successfully lose five per cent or more of their weight.
One member, Janet, said: “Karen is wonderful! She is an inspiration and gives us great tips, tricks and support to help us achieve our weight loss goals.
“I have lost 79lbs with Karen and I’ve never felt better.”
Weight Watchers UK Operations Director Samantha Rhodes said: “At the heart of Weight Watchers success are inspiring Leaders like Karen.
“Karen has been with Weight Watchers for 11 years – firstly as a member who successfully lost three stone and then as a Leader, running eight meetings a week.
“We are delighted to have her as part of the team and immensely proud of the difference she makes in her local community.”
Karen runs two meetings a week in Shaw (Queen St Conservative Club 9.15am and 6pm) one in Greenfield (Saddleworth Rangers Rugby Club, Tuesdays 6.30pm), one in Lees (Lees Reform Club Mondays 6pm) and two in Royton (Heyside Cricket Club, Thursdays 9.15am and 6pm).
