And Dobcross residents Bob and Judith Taylor make sure to take their copy to pour over with their son Simon and his wife Maité in Valencia, Spain. 
Professional jazz saxophonist Simon, a former Oldham Hulme Grammar pupil, moved there seven years ago and keeps up to date with local news by visiting the Independent’s website.
But a visit from his parents means they can read the real thing, and Judith and daughter-in-law Maité are pictured here enjoying the paper on the balcony of Simon’s apartment.
