And Saddleworth Parish Councillor Alan Belmore had the latest issue to read when he took a trip to Scotland to the New Lanark World Heritage Site.

The cotton mill village was founded in the 18th century and became an icon of enlightened management under social pioneer Robert Owen, who provided decent homes, fair wages, free health care and education for his workers.
