Oldham Council is giving residents a chance to win a share of £1,000 by simply signing up to pay Council Tax via Direct Debit and manage it online.
The local authority is holding a prize draw with five cash prizes – £300; £250; £200; £150; and £100 – for lucky winning residents.
To be in with a chance to win simply sign up to pay Council Tax via Direct Debit and manage it online via My Account.
Councillor Abdul Jabbar, Oldham Council’s Cabinet Member for Finance and Human Resources, said: “Direct Debit is the quickest, safest and easiest way to pay your Council Tax.
“You can make regular payments, which is all done automatically so you don’t have to worry about missing a payment. Not only is it convenient, it’s also really simple and safe.
“It takes just a few minutes to set up and it saves you lots of time over the year in comparison to telephone or online payments.
“You also have a choice of payment dates and options – you can pay fortnightly or monthly over ten or 12 months, whichever is the most convenient for you.
“If you are lucky enough to win some money you can spend it any way you want, on a treat or to help with essentials, such as the weekly shop, your utility bills or your Council Tax bill.”
If you already pay Council Tax by Direct Debit and manage your account online through My Account your details will automatically be entered into the draw.
If you already pay by Direct Debit but don’t manage your Council Tax online through My Account all you need to do to enter the draw is register at www.oldham.gov.uk/myaccount
If you need to set up a Direct Debit you can log onto My Account at www.oldham.gov.uk/myaccount or call 0161 770 6622.
When setting up a Direct Debit and registering for My Account remember to have your bank details and Council Tax bill to hand.
The closing date to sign up is Thursday, April 30, 2015 and the draw will take place on Friday, May 29, 2015.
