POLICE ARE hunting a man who attacked a fellow reveller outside a nightclub in Oldham.
The assault took place outside ‘Vibez’ nightclub on Horsedge St, Oldham, at around 4am on Sunday 7 February 2016.
The 23-year-old victim was leaving the nightclub along with a crowd of other people when the offender approached him and started a conversation.
All seemed cordial until the offender suddenly attempted to punch the victim in the face, though failing to connect with his punch.
Bystanders intervened and attempted to calm the attacker down, but he continued to lash out at anyone nearby.
The victim then stepped forward to try and speak to the offender, but instead was punched in the face and fell heavily to the pavement.
The offender then ran off up Horsedge Street towards Egerton Street, leaving the 23-year-old lying unconscious.
The offender is described as black, in his mid-20s with short hair. He was topless.
Detective Constable Andrew Swettenham said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack which left this man requiring numerous stitches to facial injuries.
“The offender was lashing out without prejudice, seemingly not caring who he injured.
“However, as this was at closing time there were a significant number of people on the street and I hope that some of those people will be able to assist us with this investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 070216/0454 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
