Diana Terry from Diggle has succeeded in being represented at the prestigious Royal Society of British Artists annual exhibition at The Mall Galleries alongside work of leading artists.
She has had a life-long career in the Arts and Heritage industries and works from her studio 209 in Woodend Mill Mossley.
Currently, her work is on exhibition in Gallery Oldham, for the centenary of female suffrage, where several other local women artists work are displayed together.
Diana has exhibited in Oldham and Saddleworth and also has paintings in private collections in the UK and USA.
Mostly she works in oil paint but also in etchings, and these prints are now on exhibition at The Mall Galleries and the Saul Hay Galleries, Castlefield, Manchester.
Diana said: “It is a great honour to have been selected by both these galleries. They are leaders in exhibiting exciting new works in a variety of media. “
The Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) is dedicated to promoting the highest standards of skill, concept and draughtsmanship in painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing.
Founded in 1823, the RBA hold an open submission exhibition in central London each year and prides itself on exhibiting an eclectic mix of sculpture and paintings in all media.
Diana says: “My current work starts with walking and memorising being in wild places and the experiences of being in the outdoors. I capture these places on site observing and drawing.
“Working quickly means these sketches have an immediacy which I carry on into the studio.
“I frequently take inspiration from the Pennine landscape and seek to portray an emotional connection.
“Texture and materials are integral to my work,” she explained. “I evolve this, building up the surface to a high relief.
“Sometimes I include solitary figures which are as timeless as the land, sea and sky, merging the inner with the outer world. It is the essence of a place I capture.”
