A STUNNING concert starring some of the best soloists and chamber musicians in Europe is coming to Delph in December.
‘Endymion’ was born out of the National Youth Orchestra in 1979 and retains most of its original players who give world-class performances across the globe.
The group has given 10 Proms performances and has performed at most of the British music festivals as well as gone on tours to Italy, Ireland, Spain, Finland and Mexico.
Now, on December 2 at 7.30pm, they will be performing at Millgate Arts Centre on Stoneswood Road, hosted by Saddleworth Concerts Society.
Starting with Schubert’s string Trio in B flat which is full of melodic charm they will be playing what many believe are the two greatest clarinet quintet’s ever composed.
First Mozart’s Quintet for clarinet and strings written at the time he was composing Cosi Fan Tutte and as a result the quintet radiates much of the mellowness and warmth of Cosi.
The second is Brahms’ clarinet quintet in B minor which ranks as one of the supreme works of chamber music.
The evening is a unique chance for the audience to hear one of the most celebrated British ensembles playing two of the most renowned clarinet quintets ever written.
