GRASSCROFT’S Yasmin Roebuck helped England to a clean sweep of wins as they retained their Netball Europe U17 Championship.
Yasmin, 16, starred in the victories against Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and United Arab Emirates in the event held over three days at the University of Huddersfield.
In the opening game against Wales on Friday (Mar 1), England won 72-26 and Yasmin, who took up the sport aged nine while at Friezland Primary, played centre and wing defence.
It demonstrated her versatility as she normally plays centre or wing attack.
England followed that on Saturday won 89-12 against Northern Ireland and 104-11 against United Arab Emirates with Yasmin playing mainly centre and wing attack.
England rounded off the tournament with an 81-16 victory against Scotland.
Yasmin, who is studying at Oldham Sixth Form College, and Alicia Scholes, also from Grasscroft, toured Australia with England U17s towards the end of last year.
Both girls are members of England’s Roses Academy, Yasmin at U17 level while Alicia has moved up to the U19s.
