TALENTED young footballers from Knowsley Junior School certainly found the back of the net as they scored 31 goals in eight games to secure their spot in the regional finals of a tournament organised by Manchester United.
The year three team completed the feat – as well as only conceding three goals – in the Oldham heat of the Manchester United Football in the Community competition.
They secured first place in the competition and booked their place in the regional finals which will take place at United’s Carrington training complex in June.
Paul Shea, sports coach, explained: “Usually we enter a team from year five and six so this was just a one-off event for the year three team so it’s a fantastic result.”
The team, coached by Mr Shea and year three teacher Mr Tommy Bunn, comprised Riley Pritchard, Connor Maguire, Charlie Fallows, Rayd Rashid, Eden Buckley, Max Reddish, Olly Walsh and Lewis Coe.
