AUDIENCES were left hooked after being treated to two performances of ‘Peter Pan’ at a Delph theatre.
Over 50 children provided high-flying fun at a sold-out Millgate Arts Centre as they told the story of the boy who spends his never-ending childhood having adventures in Neverland.
The kids had been rehearsing hard since October, attending weekly classes at Act One Theatre School in Uppermill.
The Saturday stage school group, aged between eight and 14, took on the main roles – with Maisie Taylor playing Peter Pan and Amalia Rahn as Wendy Darling.
William Wood was Captain Hook, Annabelle Dronsfield portrayed Tinkerbelle and Elsie Lockey had the role of Tiger Lily.
The Theatre Tots, aged three to five, were toys in the Darling’s nursery and the Theatre Bugs, aged five to seven, played mermaids and creatures under the sea at the pirates’ Black Rock.
The shows were well received by parents watching in the audience, who praised the children’s performances and hard work.
Rebecca Wood, school principal, said: “I’m immensely proud of all my pupils and our team of brilliant tutors! Everyone pulled out all the stops to create a dazzling show, full of fun, singing, dance, brilliant acting and fabulous technical aspects!
“At Act One, we pride ourselves on the professional standard of all our theatre productions and this one did not disappoint! After 22 years, we are still going strong and look forward to many more years of providing outstanding performing arts opportunities to the children of Saddleworth.”
Act One Theatre Show is opening up its Musical Theatre classes to new members. Taster sessions can be booked online at www.act-one-drama.co.uk
