£11,000 boost for local groups from Saddleworth Parish Council chairman

MORE THAN £11,000 was shared between charities and groups chosen by outgoing chairman Cllr Neil Allsopp after a year of fundraising.

His main charities were Oldham Mountain Rescue Team, Francis House, Ballboys and Grace’s Place.

Funds were also given to the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund, Diggle Diamonds, Delph Senior Citizens, Funky Fitness, Saddleworth Olympics and Saddleworth White Rose Society.

There were also boosts for Saddleworth Rotary STEM Project, Saddleworth Carers Group, Saddleworth and Lees Safety Committee, Chernobyl Children Lifeline, and the Hawkyard and Whitehead Educational Foundation.

And a portion was split between the area’s bands from Greenfield, Friezland, Diggle, Delph, Dobcross, Uppermill, Lydgate and Boarshurst Silver Band.
