Little old lady takes on ruthless criminals in dark comedy at Oldham Coliseum

AN ECCENTRIC little old lady is pitted against a gang of ruthless criminals in dark comedy The Ladykillers at Oldham Coliseum Theatre this month.

unspecified-7Posing as amateur musicians in a string quartet, Professor Marcus and his gang rent rooms in the topsy-turvy house of unsuspecting landlady Mrs Louisa Alexandra Wilberforce.

The villains plot to involve Mrs W in the heist of the century, but while the authorities are stumped the clever Mrs W solves the crime.

To prevent her from going to the police the gang decide to silence her, once and for all. With only her parrot, General Gordon, to protect her, Mrs W finds herself alone with five desperate men…

Written by Graham Linehan (Father Ted, Black Books, The IT Crowd) The Ladykillers is based on the BAFTA award-winning 1955 Ealing film of the same name.

The play premiered at Liverpool Playhouse in 2011 before transferring to London’s West End and a national tour.

The Coliseum’s production will be directed by Artistic Director Kevin Shaw, whose recent credits for the Coliseum include the UK Theatre Award nominated The Mist in the Mirror and the smash hit musical Dreamers.

The Ladykillers runs at Oldham Coliseum Theatre from Friday 10 June – Saturday 2 July 2016. Tickets can be booked on 0161 624 2829 or at www.coliseum.org.uk
