AS THE summer sun bathes Saddleworth, locals can unwind at ‘The Threetles Second Summer of Love and Peace’ charity music night.
The psychedelic event will be held at the Civic Hall in Uppermill on Friday, July 4 – and there will not be a football in sight so people can escape from the World Cup.
But The Threetles – a four-piece Beatles celebration band – will be taking revellers back to England’s glory days of 1966 as they play a host of chart-topping songs from the year, as well as some surprises.
The event has been organised to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Saddleworth Parish Council’s Chairman’s Charities, chosen by chair Enid Firth.
Threetles band member Paul Brierley said: “We’ve decided at the last minute to do this and I know we’re up against the World Cup but I’m sure we can make a success of things.
“We’ll be putting on a great show to raise money for charity, with more than a nod to the young man Stephen Sutton who’s just recently passed away.”
Tickets – with table seating – for the event cost £10 and can be brought from Uppermill Post Office, any Threetles member or by calling Paul on 07876 207169. Doors open at 7.30pm and the event will finish at midnight.
The previous event held by The Threetles was a sell-out Christmas Party when the band transformed to the Civic Hall and performed a host of Beetles hits and Christmas songs.
