‘Be Seen in Green’ to help raise funds for young cancer patients

SADDLEWORTH RESIDENTS are being urged to get their green on and wear something of that colour for a day to help raise funds and make a difference to the lives of young cancer patients.

Angela Rowe, Community Fundraising Manager for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity, wants as many people as possible to ‘Be Seen in Green’ on Friday July 4 and make a £1 donation to the charity.royal manchester childrens hospital charity

In a letter to the community, she explains: “We need as many individuals, schools, groups and businesses as possible to register for our Be Seen In Green Day, sponsored by Ryman, to raise funds for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity’s Ward 84.

“It is really simple to take part – all you need to do is wear something green – our Charity colour – to school, work or when out and about on Friday, July 4 in return for a £1 donation to the charity.”

Groups of more than 20 participants who register before Wednesday, June 25 will be entered into a prize draw to win an exclusive visit by a VIP guest who will congratulate them on their efforts.

Angela added: “This year we are raising funds to support the enhancement of ward 84, which treats children and young people with cancer.

“The ward receives 120 new patients a year with children travelling from all over the North West to receive treatment.

“Currently the ward is very clinical looking.  We want to make the environment as bright, comforting and homely as possible, putting the young patients at ease and providing a welcome distraction for children suffering from life threatening diseases.

“To fund this project we need your support. I hope that you, your friends, family or colleagues will be wearing green on 4 July, showing your support for the charity and helping to raise the much needed funds.

“Taking part in Be Seen in Green Day will add more smiles to their faces.”
