Beers galore at festival

TICKLE YOUR taste buds with a vast array of ales and lagers from across the country at this year’s Saddleworth Beer Festival on September 20 and 21.

Organised by Uppermill Conservative Club, the charity event at the Civic Hall will offer 25-30 beers and ciders from breweries both local and as far away as Sunderland to Sussex.

Guests can also tuck into a pie and peas supper or chilli, and the normal bar will be open for those who prefer spirits, wine, or soft drinks.

And live music will keep drinkers entertained throughout the two-day event, with rock group Naughty Dog taking to the stage first on Friday.

Friezland Brass Band will perform on Saturday afternoon before blues band Billy Coxon Seven round off the entertainment in the evening.

Donations from the event, which raised £1,700 last year, will be split between the Saddleworth Parish Council Chairman’s charities and the Royal British Legion.

The Saddleworth Beer Festival will run on Friday, September 20 from 6.30pm to midnight and on Saturday, September 21 from 1.30pm to midnight. Entry costs £4 per person on the door or £6 for both days. Families are welcome in the afternoon.
