GREEN-FINGERED RESIDENTS showcased their spectacular handiwork across the community in this year’s Saddleworth in Bloom competition.

Judges Councillor Graham Sheldon, Chairman of the Saddleworth Parish Council, and local gardening expert Frank Ashton toured the villages to pick the best of the bunch.
Ann Smith, from Dobcross, was awarded ‘best container garden’ for the second year running while Edward Butterworth, from Greenfield, clinched ‘best small garden’ once more.
‘Best medium garden’ was won by John and Margery Hall in Springhead and ‘best large garden’ went to Norman Jolly from Delph.
Love Lydgate were named winners of the ‘best small community garden’ for their floral displays and ‘best large community garden’ went to Sheila Cronley of Greenfield.

And The Three Crowns in Scouthead topped their runners up prize last year by scooping ‘best blooming pub’ for their colourful hanging baskets.

2nd – Kath Lomas and Rachael Beadsworth, Grasscroft

2nd – The Swan The Square, Dobcross
