DELPH’S ANDREW Kremner is hard at work in the gym preparing for his debut as a professional boxer.
The 21-year-old from Lodge Lane is set to make his bow at Wythenshawe Forum on Saturday, April 5, though he does not know who his opponent will be.
It has been a busy time for Kremner, who will fight at 10st light welterweight, as he only last month turned professional signing a three-year contract with Leeds-based Michael Marsden.
Kremner, a former pupil at St Edwards’, Lees, is trained by Failsworth-based John Murray, a boxer who has won British and European lightweight titles in a career which saw him win 31 of his 33 pro bouts.
He has had 27 fights as an amateur boxer, travelling all over the world to places including Denmark, Poland and the Channel Islands.
Kremner, who is a support officer with Greater Manchester Police, is pictured right with John Murray and holds one of Murray’s championship belts.
At the Wythenshawe Forum on Sunday, April 5, there will be roughly ten professional fights, including a WBO International World Title contest. Doors open at 7.15pm and boxing starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £30 (or £60 ringside) and are available through Andy Kremner: 07754 775000.
Andy is also looking for sponsors for his career, who will receive advertisement on his kit, and anyone interested should contact him.
