BRITAIN IMPORTS wine from all over the world and as a country we are probably pretty unique in doing this.
Unlike other countries, the choice over here is phenomenal: we can buy wine from Argentina, New Zealand, South Africa, in fact nearly everywhere you can think of – there’s very little out of our reach these days.
The downside to all this choice, however, is quite often we don’t get the local vibe on the wines that are currently hot property in their home countries.
This month we feature two wines on sale here at TOAST! that are just that
PIC ST LOUP is a wine from one of the Northernmost and coolest vineyards in the Languedoc. One of the current wine hotspots in France, a really stylish wine based on Syrah. Very hard to get over here, we tasted it after recommendation from the Strasbourg local set and it’s just outstanding.
DOLCETTO wine is a soft, seductive dry red wine from Piedmont in Italy on tasting we’d say it’s simply luscious, the ideal one to sip and enjoy on a sunny afternoon or evening. Not at all pretentious, this wine is currently the height of fashion in smart Italian society.
This month’s coffee recommendation is MANDHELING SUMATRA BLUE.
Sumatra Mandheling is a low toned and heavy bodied coffee with lots of depth and chocolate richness. Often considered to be among the world’s finest, Mandheling is an intriguing strong coffee with superb aftertaste.
It has the nickname ‘Blue Sumatra’ because the beans are first washed and achieve a bluish hue before they are roasted. Also Organic certified it is one of our best sellers – great for that morning fix!
