National Smile Month is coming to Saddleworth as Apollonia House Dental and Health Care will be holding a competition to back the national campaign.
To show their support, the team from Apollonia House will be holding a ‘draw your dentist’ competition. 
All children are encouraged to drop in drawings of their dentist or draw one in the practice between May 19 and June 19, 2014.
The competition aims to put the smile into National Smile Month as the team also hopes to raise awareness of how important oral health is.
There will be two prizes for the competition: one for under 7s and one for 7 -12 year olds. The prize will be a Philips Sonicare Children’s Toothbrush worth £75, specifically designed for growing kids to encourage healthy habits and deliver outstanding results even when they are brushing on their own.
Natalie Bennett from Apollonia House said: “National Smile Month is an excellent opportunity to bring an element of fun to an important issue.
“Good oral health is vital for a healthy smile as well as a healthy body, and we’ll be spreading that message during National Smile Month.”
The Foundation’s Chief Executive Dr Nigel Carter OBE said: “I’m delighted Apollonia House has joined the many thousands of organisations in engaging with National Smile Month. It is a great reflection of local community spirit and an excellent way to promote good oral health.
“By making an event as fun and imaginative as possible, we hope it will inspire more people to join in the fun than ever before while delivering the British Dental Health Foundation’s three key messages for good oral health of brush for two minutes twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks and visit the dentist regularly – as often as they recommend.”
