PEOPLE IN Oldham affected by cancer can attend a free health and wellbeing event to find out more about local services and support available.
The Macmillan 1-1 Support Team, part of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, is holding the first of several events on Thursday, March 12 at The Honeywell Centre, Hadfield Street, Oldham.
There will be information about the local support available for people with a cancer diagnosis, their family and friends.
There will also be physical activity, beauty therapy demonstrations and dietary advice available throughout the day.
The session is being delivered by the Macmillan 1-1 Support team in association with Pennine Care and Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group.
Suzanne Dyer, Pennine Care’s Macmillan 1-1 Support Coordinator, said the aim is to raise awareness of the support services available and bring information together to make it easier for people to access.
She said: “We know people affected by cancer often don’t know where to turn for support and advice.
“By bringing together local services that can support people with cancer and their loved ones, we can make sure they have access to the right information and support for their needs and ensure they receive the best possible standard of care.”
Dr Ian Wilkinson, Chief Clinical Officer for Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “It is so important for those living with cancer to be able to access services and support, so that they can manage their condition more effectively and enjoy a better quality of life.
“These events showcase the impressive range of services available to people affected by cancer in Oldham and raise awareness of the disease.”
The event is free to attend, with free refreshments, and visitors can drop in throughout the day between 10.30am and 2.30pm.
