A PASSIONATE mum is taking on the challenge of a lifetime as she cycles 224 miles from London to Brussels in aid of the National Autistic Society.

Clare Cusack, of Denshaw, will start the feat on June 16 and has chosen to raise funds for the NAS as her son, 13-year-old Tomas, was diagnosed with autism in February 2004.
She explained: “I am proud to support the National Autistic Society because they make a positive difference for people like Tomas and families like ours.
“I’ve found the NAS website and helplines really helpful for various issues over the last nine years. Autism is a serious, lifelong and disabling condition.
“Taking part in the London to Brussels bike ride is a huge personal challenge for me. However, I am spurred on by the knowledge that my efforts are helping the over half a million people in the UK with autism.
“I hope my fundraising efforts will support the great work the National Autistic Society do. I also want to raise awareness of the help, support and understanding people with autism and their families need.”
