Charity golf day raises record £10,000 to support young people across Oldham

MAHDLO Youth Zone’s annual charity golf day raised a record £10,000 to support its work with young people across Oldham.

The event, held at Saddleworth Golf Club in July, saw 22 teams from local businesses come together for a day of competition and networking, while raising funds for Mahdlo.

Headline sponsors M&C Risk and R Tindall Fabricators supported the golf day, alongside associate sponsors B.S. Entwistle and O’Donnell Solicitors.

A number of local businesses also sponsored tees throughout the course, contributing to the event’s record-breaking total.

The funds raised through the golf day will support the charity’s ongoing work with young people across Oldham, helping to fund mentoring, sports, employability support, creative workshops and subsidised hot meals.

The event took place during Mahdlo Youth Zone’s 15th anniversary year. Since opening in 2012, the charity has welcomed more than 60,000 young people through its doors.

Lucy Lees, Chief Executive Officer of Mahdlo Youth Zone, said:

“We are thrilled with the success of this year’s golf day and the support shown by everyone involved.

“Raising a record £10,000 is a huge achievement and we are so grateful to our headline sponsors R Tindall Fabricators and M&C Risk, our associate sponsors B.S Entwistle and O’Donnell Solicitors, as well as the many teams and golfers who took to the course in support of Mahdlo.

“It was fantastic to see so many local businesses come together for some friendly competition, all while raising vital funds that will help Mahdlo continue to be there for young people across Oldham.”

Jason Gibbons, founder of RBX Construction who sponsored a tee and took part in the day, said:

“As an Oldham-based business, it’s important for us to support charities that make a real difference in our community.

“We had a brilliant day on the course in some beautiful weather, with some fantastic views across Saddleworth.

“It was a great chance to catch up with other local businesses, enjoy a day away from the office and support a charity that does so much for young people across Oldham.”

Mahdlo’s charity golf day will return in 2027. Businesses interested in entering a team or discussing sponsorship opportunities can contact events@mahdloyz.org.
