Around 80 whisky lovers sampled a host of ten single malts at the event hosted by the Amateur Dram Society at Diggle Band Club.

They tucked into pie from the Little Saddleworth Pie Company and raised money for the team through an auction and raffle ticket sales.

Nick Watts, Amateur Dram society member and event organiser, said: “It was a fantastic evening with a great turn out and it was brilliant to raise that amount for such a worthy cause.”

The choice of charity was made to celebrate Oldham Mountain Rescue Team’s 50th anniversary and raise money for the important work they carry out, and many members of the team attended on the night.

Denzil Broadhurst from Oldham Mountain Rescue, said: “We were overwhelmed by the amount raised and want to thank the Amateur Dram society and event organisers including Nick Watts, Amy Hamilton and Graeme Rothery.

“We’d also like to pay tribute to the attendees who turned out to support us.”
