The Old Bell Inn is hosting the six course gourmet party on Friday, August 30 with head chef Mark Pemberton’s dishes based on children’s favourite meals but with a grown-up twist.

Mark said: “The menu I have created is inspired by kid’s favourite meals, dishes you’d typically find on a child’s menu in any pub.

“I have put a contemporary and modern twist on these dishes to please a more sophisticated palate. For example a classic dish enjoyed by children is sausage and mash. However ours are handmade chicken and tarragon sausages with a coq au vin style twist.”

Other culinary delights include ‘Kiddie’s snacks and dips’ of mature cheddar and caramelized onion fritter with roast pineapple.

Mark added: “I wanted to do this for Francis House as I am a big supporter of the work they do.

“I come from a troubled background and my brother was in the care system, so I understand the support and nurture children and young adults need.”

Francis House, celebrating its 21st birthday this year, provides care for children, teenagers and young adults with life threatening conditions and support and short-term rest for their families.

They support more than 240 families for free across the North West, with a recent seven bedroom extension for teenagers and young people, and rely on donations and funding to cover annual running costs of £3.5 million.

Revd David Ireland, Chief Executive of Francis House who lives in Delph said: “We’d like to express our thanks to Mark and the team at The Old Bell Inn for organising the gourmet evening.

“We hope lots of people will come, have a great evening and show their support.”

Diners can experience Mark’s unique menu for £34.95 per head on Friday, August 30 at The Old Bell Inn in Huddersfield Road, at 7pm for a 7.30pm dinner. The evening will include a charity raffle, auction, and entertainment from Andy Lee and magician Chris Stickland. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling The Old Bell Inn on 01457 870130.
