A MINI-FESTIVAL will raise the roof at Diggle Band Club as bands take centre stage for charity.
Organised by The Friends of Diggle Band Club, DIGG-FEST will serve up a feast of musical styles including folk, bluegrass, indie, rock, ska and reggae on Saturday, September 28.
The bands playing are folk band Green Street, The Non-Skills with their blend of new wave and alternative rock and local bluegrass sensations The Cherry Hintons.
They are joined by ska and roots band Beat Swanking, indie heroes Naughty Dog and Homegrown Effect with their Mancunian blend of real Reggae.
Thomas Robinson, promotions co-ordinator for The Friends of Diggle Band Club, said: “The recent success of the Diggle Blues Festival highlighted how well-loved the venues are and what a great community spirit exists here.
“There is definitely an appetite for this type of event. There’ll be a BBQ, children’s play area and plenty of Real Ale, as well as great music – all in aid of three fantastic charities.”
Proceeds from the event will be split between The National Autistic Society, Spring Hill Hospice of Rochdale and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The Friends of Diggle Band Club have put on events throughout the year to raise club funds, including the revival of the iconic “I dig Diggle” t-shirts and live music nights on the last Saturday of each month.
DIGG-FEST will be held on Saturday, September 28 at Diggle Band Club. Doors Open from 2pm. Tickets are £5 or £6 on the door. Tickets can be purchased from Diggle Post Office or Diggle Band Club. More details: 07789 204085.
