Children’s activity day fills St Chad Church with fun during 800th anniversary celebrations

FUN ACTIVITIES filled St Chad Church in Uppermill as part of their 800th anniversary celebrations.

Visitors of all ages enjoyed an exciting host of activities, coordinated by Oldham Play Action Group, inside the historic building.

Activities included badge-making, banner-making, balloon making, stained glass window painting and pennant making.

And outside, children and parents alike squirmed their way around the churchyard on a bug hunt organised by congregation member and a former countryside warden Tim Edge.

A spokeperson for the church said: “A very big thank you to those families who attended the Fun Day. Oldham Play Action Group were brill, thanks to you all!

“Alongside this Tim ran a series of bug hunts in the church yard. Nets and magnifying boxes at the ready, the children set off finding bugs and flowers to make a painter’s ‘palette’ of colour using grasses, seeds, petals etc. completely captivated.

“Many thanks to Tim and all the volunteers who stayed the whole afternoon.”
