Christie Allsorts ready for 2015 after smashing last year’s target

A STAGGERING £9,000 was raised by dedicated fundraisers The Christie Allsorts last year – and their plans to raise more in 2015 are already underway.

The team hoped to raise £8,000 and smashed that target, with monies donated to help the New Young Oncology Unit and the Brachytherapy Virtual Windows fund.

The Christie Allsorts Chair Christine Harrop said: “The final figure was just over £9,000 which is a wonderful achievement thanks to the fantastic support the team have received.”

This year, the team has chosen to raise funds to support the newly-created role of Specialist Dementia and Cancer Nurse recently appointed to the Christie.

This is the first post of its kind in the UK and the team are delighted to support The Christie as they take the lead in this appointment, with the position funded by Macmillan and the Christie Charity.

And to kickstart their fundraising, The Christie Allsorts will hold their first event of the year – A Northern Soul Night – on Friday, March 27 at Friezland Hall at 7.30pm.

Guests can take themselves back to the music, dance and fashion of the 60s and 70s, with Big Steve spinning the discs.

This year will also see a varied number of events including a Chinese Banquet and Auction, Floral Demonstration, Lancashire Night and a Night at the Movies – more details soon.

Tickets for the Northern Soul Night on Friday, March 27 cost £7 and are available from Greenfield Post Office, Christine on 07801 483272 or Margaret on 07794 833193.

The Christie Allsorts meet at the King William IV pub in Greenfield on the first Tuesday of every month at 7.15pm.
