A DELICIOUS spread of baked goodies was served up at a 20th Oldham Scouts coffee morning and ‘Fairtrade Bakeoff’ as they raised £157 for Shelterbox.
Some of the Scouts entered tasty treats into the competition, which was open to the public with categories for over and under 18s, while others got hands on serving and cleaning up.
Guests tasted and judged the spread of 16 cakes, which included cookies, shortbread, brownies, chocolate cake, easter cupcakes, lemon and lime loaves, victoria sponge, fruit tea bread, strawberry sponge slices, and coffee and walnut cake.
All the cakes were baked with at least one fairtrade item as the coffee morning was held during Fairtrade fortnight.
In first place was Jacob Popplewell with his mouth-watering chocolate brownies, while Eve Cockburn came second.
In joint third was Jeremy Knight with pair Beth Cockburn and Hannah Bird, while the highest ranking adult was Kathleen Skinner in fifth.
The Scouts will put profits from the event towards buying their third Shelterbox, which provides emergency shelter and vital supplies to communities overwhelmed by disaster and humanitarian crisis.
