A CLASSIC production of Samuel Beckett’s ‘Waiting For Godot’ will stop off at Oldham Coliseum next month as part of a national tour.

London Classic Theatre Company is taking their production to 37 venues countrywide and will be in the borough from Tuesday 6 – Saturday 10, October.
A country road. A tree. Evening. Vladimir and Estragon meet as dusk approaches. Estragon tries to remove his boot. Vladimir examines his hat. A conversation begins, a joke is interrupted. A carrot is eaten. The two men quarrel, then embrace. A pair of eccentric travellers arrive. Seemingly master and servant, one stands weighed down at the end of a long rope, the other carries a whip.
First produced in 1955, Waiting For Godot is a ground-breaking, anarchic meditation on the meaning of life and death.
Part allegory, part burlesque, this timeless play moves seamlessly between absurdist comic sketch and captivating philosophical drama.
In 1999, it was voted the most significant English language play of the 20th Century.
London Classic’s production will be directed by Artistic Director Michael Cabot and features a cast including: Jonathan Ashley, Peter Cadden, Richard Heap, Michael Keane and Sonja Zobel.
Samuel Beckett was an Irish writer, dramatist and poet who wrote in both English and French, and his principal works include Krapp’s Last Tape, Happy Days and Endgame. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969.
Waiting For Godot runs at Oldham Coliseum Theatre from Tuesday 6 – Saturday 10 October.
