The Uppermill Community Association (UCA) meeting will bring together residents and businesses from the busy village at the Civic Hall at 6.30pm.

The association was set up in the summer following a push by councillors Pam Byrne and Graham Sheldon, along with Nick Watts, who lives and works in Uppermill.

An interim committee has been voted in to help to get the association up and running until the Annual General Meeting later in the year.

And now the UCA is getting down to business and wants the public to come along to their first meeting to get involved and share any ideas and issues.

Locals can get involved by joining as members, signing up to help the action groups such as Street Scene, or simply raise any concerns they have about the village.

A constitution has been formally adopted and an annual membership fee set at £5 per person, open to anyone who lives or works in Uppermill.

Nick Watts, chair of UCA, said: “The idea is to get businesses, residents, groups and the Parish Council working together so we can improve community life in the village.”

The interim committee is: Chair – Nick Watts; Vice-chair – Alma McInnes – Treasurer – Charlie Middlewood; Vice Treasurer – David Stanton; Secretary and Minutes Secretary – Julie Beaumont; Sub Committee Manager – Marlene Wild; Members Coordinator – Sheila Strutt; Ordinary Members – Catherine Johnstone and John Broadbent.
