BRIGHT COLOURS and sounds will fill the streets of Uppermill as the Saddleworth Clog and Garland Dancers host their annual Day of Dance on Saturday, April 16.
The women’s group invites all to join them for the traditional event, which will include dancing from 10.30am to 4pm.
They will show off their lively dances at at Uppermill Park and Library, The Hare and Hounds, Uppermill Conservative Club and other locations throughout the village.
And joining them will be special guests Sowerby Bridge Morris, Chorlton Cloghoppers, Hexadaisy Morris and Rhubarb Tarts.
Last year, the team braved heavy rain and wind to bring their traditional routines to admiring audiences in Uppermill.
They dance traditional North West clog stepping, and their history is based on mill girls who used to dance to celebrate the wakes.
The Saddleworth Clog and Garland Dancers practice every Monday night 8pm-10pm at the Ebenezer Congregational Church in Uppermill. For more information email: saddleworthclog@gmail.com or find them on Facebook.
