Comedy night to raise funds for Dobcross defibrillators

A COMEDY night is being hosted at The Swan Inn, Dobcross to raise funds for the installation of life-saving public access defibrillators in the village.

1461360912‘The Naked Stun’ from the police files of Alfie Moore will be staged at the popular pub on Wednesday, June 15 at 7.30pm.

The former Police Sergeant, who has his own hit BBC Radio 4 series ‘It’s a Fair Cop’, will taser his way through an hour of hilarious and fascinating anecdotes from 18 years on the beat.

The Naked Stun is based on the true story of his dogged determination to track down a ‘serial flasher’ and Alfie describes life at the front-line of the force with wit and charm.

The fast-paced plot twists and turns, exposing a hilariously strange and seedy side of his crime investigation.

Alfie brings this critically acclaimed show to the pub following a total sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and a successful UK tour.

He also has TV credits including The Wright Stuff (Channel 5), Comic Relief, BBC Radio Four’s Idiots Guide to Crime and Punishment, Bizarre Crime(BBC3), and Confessions of a Police Officer (Channel4).

He was one of the stars of ‘Show Me The Funny’ (ITV) and ‘Alfie Moore’s Almanac’, which he wrote and presented for BBC Radio, and has supported Rhod Gilbert, Sarah Millican, Russell Kane and Milton Jones on their national comedy tours.

Tickets for the evening cost £15 (includes pie and peas supper) and are available from or from The Swan.

The event will raise funds for defibrillators in the village telephone boxes, sponsored by The Swan & Marston’s Brewery.
