A LAUGHTER-FILLED evening with Off the Rails Comedy on Saturday, June 21 will help raise funds for the Saddleworth Women’s Institute’s chosen charity.
Proceeds from the event, which is the group’s last major fundraiser of the year, at the Royal George in Greenfield will go to Oldham Bereavement Support Service.
Entertainment for the night will include rising star Paul McCaffrey, Irish comedian and actor Paddy Lenox and new comedy award winner Kiri Pritchard-McLean, with Rob Riley as compere.
There will also be a WI raffle, with great prizes kindly donated by local businesses.
Tickets cost £10 in advance and are available online at www.saddleworthcomedy.co.uk or contact 07866 541560. Doors open at 8pm to start at 8.30pm. Over 18s only.
Saddleworth WI meets on the Wednesday of each month at the Saddleworth Hotel at 7.30pm. New members and guests are always welcome. The annual subscription fee of £34.70 is now due. The group asks for a voluntary donation of 50p from members and £2 from non-members per meeting towards running costs and refreshments.
Further details of forthcoming events, speakers, activities, and subgroups can be found on the WI website www.saddleworthwi.com or Facebook or Twitter pages.
Sub-groups include cinema and theatre, food and drink, book club, singing, cake and walking and are a great way to make new friends of all ages.
The newly-formed Day Trips group is also proving popular, with the group enjoying a recent trip to the Cake and Bake Show at Manchester Central and planning a visit to the Tatton Flower Show in July.
