THE DATE has been set for a Saddleworth Parish Councillor to face a crown court over allegations of making and possessing indecent images of children.
Michael Buckley, 67, who lives in Dobcross, pled not guilty at Oldham Magistrates Court in March to 17 counts of making and possessing indecent images of boys aged between six and 18 years old.
He is alleged to have had up to 421 indecent images on his computer showing boys and young men naked but not of a sexual nature.
He then appeared at Manchester Crown Court at Minshull Street on April 16 for a preliminary hearing and spoke only to confirm his name.
Then the date was set for his plea and case management hearing on July 14, which will be followed by a trial on December 2.
(The ‘making’ of indecent images refers to the act of downloading them from the internet and not necessarily having taken them oneself.)
