Dedicated Woman of Oldham committee fundraisers present £5,000 to POINT

A cheque for £5,500 has been presented by the dedicated Woman of Oldham committee to a charity for parents of children with additional needs.

The Committee visited ‘POINT’ at their offices in Oldham to present the money, which was raised throughout 2017 at various fundraising events.

Their efforts culminated with the Woman of Oldham Annual Charity Luncheon in September at The White Hart, Lydgate when the Woman of Oldham award was presented to Sharon Livesey for her fundraising triathlons, marathons, Ironman UK and Australia for Maggie’s Oldham Cancer Centre.

The Luncheon now in its 24th year has raised over £136,000 for local charities.

Now, the Committee is looking for a charity for 2018, which will be a special year for them as they mark their 25th Anniversary.

The celebratory Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at The White Hart.

The Committee selects a charity in the New Year and it is important to them that it is local so money will benefit the Oldham area.

They already have an exciting calendar of fundraising events planned, including Tapas evenings, a cheese and wine with silent auction, and Strawberry Sparkle.

They welcome all to attend the events, donate raffle prizes or sponsorship from local businesses or individuals.

Any charity wishing to apply to be supported in 2018, call Janet Larton on: 0161 652 8878.
