Digg Fest charity spectacular is a sell-out

A MUSICAL feast raised £850 for charities as Digg Fest returned to the village band club for a sell-out second year.

Bands of all genres took to the stage to offer something for all music lovers, with sets including The Stallies, Bo Weavil, Mike Sweeney and Paddy O’Hare, The Cherry Hintons, Non-Skills and Drums and Wires.

There was also a children’s play area, a Real Ale Bar and stalls, including Diggle Roast Lamb and a BBQ.

Proceeds from this year’s event will go to Dr Kershaw’s, Oldham Mountain Rescue Team and The Christies Allsorts, which were nominated by the community.

Tom Robinson, from The Friends of Diggle Band Club who organised the event, said: “It was a great success.  The event was once again a sell-out, and the Friends of Diggle Band Club would like to thank everyone who came.

“The main room was packed with dancing as the varied line-up of bands kept the festival going until midnight.

“The event is set to be a yearly event, only made possible by the talented musicians giving up their time and a special thank you also to Patrick Warrington for providing and overseeing the sound, and to Carolyn Robinson, the main organiser.

“We’re already looking forward to Digg Fest 2015!”
