A TREASURE trove of football league records donated to homelessness charity Emmaus Mossley have found a new home at The English National Football Archive.

A suitcase full of English and Scottish football league records dating from 1939 to 1963 were donated to Emmaus Mossley as part of a house clearance in Didsbury.
The records were compiled by an unknown Manchester City supporter from Didsbury and include details of football results, attendance figures, goal scorers and even referees.
Emmaus Mossley was keen to find these records found a suitable home and made contact with Tony Brown who runs The English National Football Archive.
Tony commented: “My colleagues and I at the English National Football Archive have many resources to call upon to build up our database of English football.
“The handwritten ledgers given to Emmaus represent someone’s hobby that ran for over 20 years, and we are pleased to give them a home whilst we use them to see what can be added to the database.
“Certainly the times of goals, and the referees’ names, will be a useful addition. Eventually the ledgers will be donated to the National Football Museum, available for anyone to view.
“We are grateful to Emmaus for taking the trouble to contact us; on many occasions, valuable work such as this ends up as scrap paper.”

Emmaus Mossley supports 24 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home and work in a community setting.
The charity runs a social enterprise in Mossley, selling donated and upcycled furniture, household goods and vintage wares.
Alison Hill, Project Director at Emmaus Mossley, said: “We occasionally receive donated items that are just too special to sell in the Emmaus Mossley second hand superstore.
“In these instances we do our upmost to research their background and find a suitable organisation to use or display these items for the public to enjoy.
“We’re delighted Tony was able to collect the football records and make them available to the public via the National Football Museum. If anyone has any information about the person who originally compiled these records please do get in touch.”
