A fantastic line-up of inspiring speakers has been revealed as Oldham Council hosts its first ever EPIC Talks series.
The EPIC Talks, which stand for Engaging People and Inspiring Conversations, are part of the free Your Oldham Festival taking place between Sunday 3 – Saturday 9 September.
The talks aim to inspire and provoke conversations that matter, focussing on three key themes: Inclusive Economy, Thriving Communities and Co-operative services.
The Inclusive Economy talks (on Monday 4 September, 10am-1pm) will start the discussion about our place, how we connect with where we live and how partners and people are working together to improve lives – so bring your thinking caps.
The Thriving Communities talks (Monday 4 September, 2pm-5pm) will ask you to think about other people, their health and wellbeing and how residents, businesses, partners and the public sector can work together in a co-operative borough.
The final EPIC talks (Tuesday 5 September, 10am-1pm) are based around Co-operative Services and will focus on how we deliver public services to improve outcomes for residents and what advances in technology could mean for residents.
The line-up of speakers chosen should spark discussion and form a connection within the groups of residents and visitors.
The selection of speakers will include Professor Ruth Lupton, Inclusive Growth Analysis Unit, Tracy Fishwick, Managing Director at Transform Lives Company (TLC), Lord John Bird MBE, founder of the Big Issue magazine, Julia Unwin CBE, Independent Chair of the Inquiry on the Future of the Civil Society, Alexandra Hoskyn, founder of Chatty Café, Duncan Selbie, Chief Executive of Public Health England, Liz Windsor-Welsh, Chief Executive of Action Together and Lord Andrew Mason, Social Entrepreneur and Executive Chairman Well North.
