AN EXCITING line-up of events and sessions is filling the calendar for all ages at the newly re-opened Satellite Centre in Greenfield.
The centre on Wellington Road closed in 2015 following the withdrawal of youth services by Oldham Council but it reopened this September after being taken over by a board of trustees, the SSYCA.

Now, local groups and organisations are invited to make use of the space to put on a host of activities and sessions.
Christine Cummings, who is organising the bookings for the centre, explained: “Our remit was to get as many people from the community with different projects.
“We have already achieved a great mix with the wonderful organisations Funky Fitness, Jelly Tots, a Pilates class, PassInc and a cookery class, together with the youth group Yolo and Uppermill Football Club.
“On top of that, the cafe is open on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
“We also have private bookings in the pipeline and hopefully these will increase in the coming months.”
Greg Cookson and his Dovestone Youth Rangers have been working hard on the garden and raised beds, where they are hoping to grow vegetables and herbs to be used in the kitchen.
The centre is holdings its first Coffee Morning on Monday, November 7 between 10.30am and 12 noon so visitors can enjoy a drink, a natter and chance to meet new friends. Everyone welcome.
At the re-opening of the centre in September, Richard Bartlett, chair of SSYCA, said: “We’re really pleased to be opening up the centre to the community once more.
“We want a centre for everybody to use and be part of. It is going to take a little bit of time and energy but it will be a great thing for the community.”
