FALLEN HEROES who have died serving for their country will be remembered at events across this community this month.
The Saddleworth Branch of the Royal British Legion invites the public to join them on Friday, November 4 for their annual Remembrance Dinner at Boarshurst Band Club in Greenfield, at 7.30pm, open to all.

The evening includes a three-course turkey dinner (vegetarian option available) and music from Phoenix Brass. Saddleworth Parish Council chairman Cllr Pam Byrne will be guest of honour.

Then they are holding short services at the war memorial in St Chad’s Park, Uppermill on Monday, November 7 at 7.15pm and on Friday 11 at 10.45am.
The services will be officiated by Rev Godfrey Adams, with Uppermill Band playing hymns on the Monday night.
Elsewhere, there is the annual Delph Remembrance Dinner in aid of The Royal British Legion at Delph Band Club on Friday, November 11, 6.30pm for 7pm start.
All ladies and gentlemen welcome. £25 per ticket (raffle included) for four-course meal followed by official Remembrance tributes, Delph Band in concert and popular local entertainment including top comedian Johnny Corrigan.
Then on Sunday, November 13 silences will be held by church congregations as part of their Sunday services.
And at Pots and Pans cenotaph, a service will start at 10.45am, officiated by Rev Philip Williamson and including the Last Post and music from Dobcross Brass Monkeys.

Elsewhere Saddleworth Male Voice Choir will present their annual Concert of Remembrance at the Civic Hall, Uppermill on Saturday, November 12 at 7.30pm.
The choir will sing a selection from their constantly changing repertoire of well-known male voice favourites followed by a sing-along of popular world war songs.
There will also be the Act of Remembrance with the Standard Bearer of the Royal British Legion and a reading of the poem ‘For the Fallen’.
The choir’s special guests are Ashton Band under the baton of their MD Philip Chalk, two Chelsea pensioners and the Mayor and Mayoress of Oldham and the Chair and Consort of Saddleworth Parish Council.

Then at Greenfield Cricket Club there will be a short service on Sunday, November 13, starting at 2.30pm.
At Dobcross Band and Social Club on Platt Lane, there is a ‘Remembrance Concert’ with Dobcross Silver Band and Brass Monkeys, on Sunday, November 13 starting at 8pm, £3 at the door.
And at Diggle Band Club there will be a ‘Remembrance Concert’ on Sunday, November 13, starting at 7.30pm.
