‘Exciting opportunities’ in store for Diggle Brass Band with new musical director

DIGGLE Brass Band is ‘incredibly excited’ to welcome Tony Wyatt as its new Musical Director.

The band announced the appointment on its Facebook page ahead of its next performance on Sunday, September 13 at Wetherby Bandstand.

They wrote: “We are delighted to officially welcome 𝐓𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐖𝐲𝐚𝐭𝐭 as the new Musical Director of 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞 B𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬 B𝐚𝐧𝐝!

“Tony brings a wealth of experience both as a player and conductor, having enjoyed a long and successful career in brass banding.

“He was previously 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐕𝐁𝐒 𝐏𝐨𝐲𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐧 and also played cornet with the renowned 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝, before going on to hold Musical Director positions with a number of bands across the North West.

“Most recently, Tony has spent almost 11 years at the helm of 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐤 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬, helping to shape the band and enjoying many memorable concerts, contests and tours along the way.

“We’re incredibly excited to begin this new chapter with Tony and look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.

“His experience, enthusiasm and musical direction will undoubtedly bring plenty of exciting opportunities for the band.”
