Exciting theatre workshops launched for adults by Mossley AODS

MOSSLEY AODS is expanding its provision with two new weekly workshops for adults to build on the success of its Next Generation Youth Theatre and award winning dramatic and musical productions.

Shakespeare workshops will commence on Wednesday, March 4 at the group’s studio in Woodend Mill for anyone aged 16 or over.

The tutor will be Jane Lancaster, who is a Royal Shakespeare Company trained actress and director who has worked for many years in theatre and television in the UK and the USA.

Jane commented: “There is nothing better than theatre to teach life skills to all age groups.

“Shakespeare’s plots are better than anything you’ll see on TV and once you act them, you will love them.

“The arts make a difference in how we see the world and how we conduct ourselves.

“All actors should learn to speak the language of Shakespeare, and if you are lucky enough to learn it you will retain it for the rest of your life, and it will give you self-confidence.”

The sessions will cost £3 and run from 7.30pm to 9pm. The first session is free.

Also on Wednesday, March 4 at the studio is a new Drama Workshop for adults aged 18 and over with award-winning director James Schofield.

The workshops will aim to build on the skills you have and to learn more about theatre techniques, whether you are just starting or a seasoned performer.

There will be a chance for everyone to perform but most of all there will be opportunities to work together and enjoy drama.

The sessions will cost £4.50 and run from 7.45pm to 9.45pm. The first session is free but then will be charged on a four weekly basis thereafter.

If you are interested in either of these exciting new workshops please contact Society Secretary, John Buckley on 01457 870875 or 07731 396520.
