MAGICAL window displays will be unveiled at homes and businesses around Uppermill as the ‘living advent calendar’ returns.

Each day from December 1 to Christmas Eve, a new window will reveal its colourful display across the village, just like a conventional advent calendar.
Villagers and tourists alike will be able to hunt out the windows in a trail until the life-sized calendar finishes on Twelfth Night on January 5.
The ‘living advent calendar’ is returning for a fifth year after proving a hit with residents since being launched in 2013 by local Erica Ryan.
She said: “We have some new windows taking part this year, and we’re very excited that Saddleworth Museum and some high street businesses will be taking part too.
“It’s a lovely thing to be a part of. We never really know who comes round in the dark to see it, although I know at least one running club uses it as their Christmas route!
“What has been lovely this year is being approached by some people who have seen the windows in the past and want to be a part of it – which is how I started it off in the first place!”
Erica launched the calendar after being inspired by one during a visit to Saltaire in 2012 and deciding to re-create the same thing in her own village.
