Family historians can delve into past with series of events in Oldham

FAMILY HISTORIANS can delve into their pasts with a programme of events at Oldham Local Studies and Archives this Spring.

Whatever level you’re at the staff and volunteers aim to offer the help and advice you need.

Members of the Oldham Branch of the Manchester and Lancashire Family History Society will be giving talks on Friday mornings, beginning at 10.30am, covering a range of subjects of particular interest to family historians.

Booking is essential and the talks include:

  • Family History – Getting Started on 25 February
  • Civil Registration: Births, Marriages & Deaths on 4 March
  • Using the Census on 11 March
  • Before Civil Registration: Parish Registers on 18 March
  • Wills and Probate Records on 1 April
  • Maps for Family Historians on 8 April.

To book your place, contact Oldham Local Studies and Archives at 84 Union Street, Oldham, OL1 1DN, call them on 0161 770 4654 or email archives@oldham.gov.uk

There are also regular Family History advice sessions every Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 2-4pm.

There’s no need to book for these – just turn up with all the information you have and family history experts will be on hand to help.
