Festive treats await at craft festivals

FESTIVE TREATS and presents galore can be snapped up as the Saddleworth Creative Network returns with two Craft and Gift Festivals this winter.

On Sunday, November 2 at the ‘Winter Craft and Gift Festival’ early bird Christmas shoppers can choose from a wide range of Yuletide decorations, gifts and goodies from a host of local traders.p23 scn xmas1

As the fair coincides with Remembrance Sunday, all proceeds from the SCN tombola will be donated to the Royal British Legion, and many stall holders will also be raising money to donate.

Then the ‘Christmas Craft and Gift Festival’ will be held a month later on Sunday, December 7 so visitors can purchase any last-minute festive treats.

Shoppers can also pay a magical visit to ‘Santa’s Grotto’ where he will be handing out presents to the children and taking photos.

The chosen charity for the Christmas fair is the John Magowen Memorial Fund, which aims to raise awareness of young sudden cardiac death.

At both events, regular traders will be joined by a selection of new talent, giving shoppers the chance to enjoy local arts, crafts, food and creative stalls.

Stalls will include jewellery, cards, gifts, pies, chocolate, cakes, jams, tea and coffees, mirrors, cards, clothes, knitted and felt, mosaics, paintings and photos, pottery, soaps and candles.

There will also be a tearoom, face-painting and Winter/Christmas activities to keep the children entertained.

Claire Hilton, owner of Saddleworth Creative Network, said: “Why not take time out to enjoy browsing the stalls for some unique gifts or a treat for yourself from our talented local creative traders.

“We have stalls with a bit of something for everyone, which is just what you need at this time of year.

“Why go anywhere else when you can get all your Christmas gifts and festive food and decorations from one place and relax in the knowledge that you are also supporting local creative people and businesses.”

Both events are free to enter and will be held at the Civic Hall in Uppermill from 10am-4pm.
