Oldham Council is encouraging pancake-loving young youngsters to take part in ‘The Big Flip’ this Shrove Tuesday, February 17. 
The event will take place inside Tommyfield Market Hall, Albion Street, Oldham, between 11am and 3pm to see how many times you can flip a pancake in 30 seconds.
The competition, which is open to six to 12 year olds, will take place at intervals throughout the day: 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm – opposite Denton’s jewellers and Stationery Corner.
The winner will receive £20 worth of shopping vouchers to spend at the traditional market. There will be two categories: six to nine and 10-12 year olds. Participants will only have one attempt to bag the prize.
A DJ pancake chef will be on hand to dish out a good dollop of fun – while spinning discs and feeding hungry shoppers and you can take home a free recipe card to learn how to make – and taste – a pancake the right way.
In addition, there will be entertainment in the market hall throughout the day, 11am – 3pm, including free face painting; free balloon modelling and more.
